1968 復小Mini Reunion
March 4, 2006 at Santa Cruz
~ 邵雷音
Hi,
Photos from March 4 get together at Santa Cruz have been posted (Chuck(王式禮) posted a couple, and I added 6 yesterday and a few more today) at our Yahoo group photos area. Several people couldn't join us due to illness (hope you are all feeling better! Joy Kan(甘方中), Joy Hu(胡 珮) and Chao Chen(陳兆強)), I talked to Grace(王相華) on Friday, and her daughter wasn't feeling well. I hope more people can make it next time, which would probably be in June or early July.
Ronjane(璩榮珍) was a real trooper, she had a 2 hour drive to get to my house, living the fartherest, she got here first, and parked way down the street so other people can park closer! And she was the driver to take us to the beach to watch the sunset, since she had the biggest van. Thank you Ronjane and it was so nice to see you.
I told people no need to bring food, but of course, being Chinese I suppose, we always bring something! So we had enough food and decided not to eat out. Chin Wu-Yi(秦無逸) brought OJ and Champange to make Mimosa (that's what some of use were holding in our glass in the photos). And he also bought the gallon of clam chowder and shrimp cocktail etc at the restaurant on the Santa Cruz wharf for all of us, so I thought it would be fitting to include that photo of him!
We walked along West Cliff Drive near the Lighthouse beach, and also stopped at Natural Bridges Park. Then we went to the Wharf/boardwalk, looked around some shops and that's where Chin got us the clam chowder! It's a picturesque place, very cold though, since it's right at the ocean, and we have had some storms lately.
We went home to eat our bounty. My dogs behaved more or less. We even have leftover food. Imagine that! Although if I had thought we were going to eat at home, I would have been better prepared.
Thanks Michelle (謝明琪)and Jerry Lin(林 益) for the classical CD gifts. Michelle must have been reliefed when she saw my collection of classica music CD's and knowing that I like classical music! I was not too much help in explaining my audio setup. I mostly listened to the guy at the store who sold me the CD player. That was still when I lived in Los Angeles. I went to one of those home entertainment, high-end hi-fi stores, and listened to several setups. And choosing one in my price range. I probably won't recommend getting advice at Best Buy unless you know exactly what you want.
Anyway, I had a good time. Although it felt like we didn't get nearly enough time to catch up with 30+ years of our lives. So, looking forward to our next meeting, and take care, everyone.
